End of Tear Presentation day 2014

Another year has passed and last sunday saw the Vale Reds Presentation day at Barry Rugby club,  it was nice to see so many parents and players at the presentation. Like previous years the day started off with a welcome from the Chairperson and then the event started off with the under 16's awards, these went to Lizzie Howard and Josh Hill for their outstanding progress with their skills and work ethic at training and tournaments, Lizzie was unable to collect her award so her brother Richard picked it up for her.

The over 16's awards went to Richard Howard for his commitment, Ibriham Hassan for goal of the season, which was a overhead kick and Adam Davies who was the player of the year.  All players went home with a new training top that were sourced by the committee with some help from Classic Sports Wear from Cardiff so a big thank you goes to Wayne Matthews and his staff.

The rest of the day was taken up with games and watching the world cup but also bingo and a raffle with prizes donated by Chaiholics ( tea for two), Le club gym (two day passes) and friend and family of the vale reds, a big thank you goes out to you all and especially Lynne and Carys who made toys for the raffle.  We also want to thank all the parent who turned up and the positive feedback about the day and how they enjoyed it, the committee who worked so hard to arrange the event, all the volunteer leaders and coaches who give up their time for free very week

Last festival of the season

Last Sunday the 15th June 2014 saw us at our last festival for the Vale Reds DFC for this season,  the RCT is always a good festival to go to and it gives the players a chance to put everything into practice that they have been doing in training.  As normal the day was dry, sunny and very hot but everyone still gave 100%,  the results on the day were mixed and both teams only managed draws and lost other games.  We were unable to field our own under 16's team due to it being fathers day but for the players that did attend they were made welcome and joined in to make a mixed team form different clubs.
The team did not come away with a win but two of our players won trophies, the first was for Best player for the under 16's, that went to Lizzie Howard and then Bonny Jewel won the fair play award for the over 16"s.  This shows what values we have within the club and what the players stand for with fair play and performing to their best ability, WELL DONE TO THE BOTH OF YOU.

Next Event

Please remember that the end of year is on Sunday 29th June 2014 at Barry Rugby Club, Tickets are £3 and that includes food, all family and friends are welcome to join in with the event.  Speak to Keith or Pat at Training for Tickets

Club Update - April 2014

It has been a bit of a busy season so far with games changing from there original location and having to swap festivals but we are the Vale Reds and we just get on with it.  The club is still managing to attract new players and we are growing all the time which is once to see and a big welcome to all of you, it is also been a busy time for the coaching staff who have been giving up more of their time to complete courses to help them in their coaching styles and this will carry on next season.  Two players from the club who have been volunteering with Simon Jones were asked to attend the leaders course and we are glad to say that they have passed. This will also help the club with additional staff to help out with younger members so well done to Michael Neatherway and Nic Latham for all their efforts. On a sad note we have lost one of our coaches in David Gent but not to worry he will be back in September after he has completed his summer job with PGL.  The next festival maybe on May 18th 2014 but if that does not come off we will be having a special training session but more information too follow.

Another date for your hectic diaries is the 29th June 2014 when we be having the end of season presentation and this year we are back at the rugby club in Barry, it will start at 3pm and everyone is welcome with the tickets being at £3.00 it is even cheaper than last year.  Tickets will be on sale when we go back after the Easter break so start saving and bring as many family member that you can.  the club has also donated some Easter eggs to Lyndsay Ellis who is collecting them for Ty Hafen, Lyndsay is a big supporter of the club and has again said he will help us in the future if we need to so we thought we would support him in another good cause.

6th October 2013 - Cardiff Gol festival

First of all a thank you to RCT Tigers for running the festival on sunday

The first time we as a club have had a under 16 football team at a Pan disability festival for many years, I cannot remember a team whilst I have been coaching at the Vale Reds and it shows that the club are going from strength to strength.  The under 16 team are coached by David and here is what he said after the tournament had finished -
Seeing the under 16’s entered their 1st tournament of the year at Cardiff Gol was a fantastic experience. They started the tournament with a flurry of goals a total of 8 goals in their 1st match. They then went on to win this match 8 goals to 3 against RCT Tigers . They then followed this result with back to back hard fought defeats against Cardiff City  and Newport under 16’s . During this tournament the Vale Reds  under 16 side showed their ability to work as a team and their dedication and passion to the game by  carrying on even when  they were losing and tired. Goals were scored at this tournament  by numerous of players from the team but one goal stood out. It was a lob goal from Ben Lane one of under sixteen’s oldest players in the Newport game which they unfortunately lost 7 goals to 3. Man of the tournament was a tough decision but was eventually given to  Josh Hill for his outstanding hard work in defence, great saves and  teamwork .

We don't normally give out player of the tournament from the club but I know David is proud of what they have acheived in a short space of time and you could see that with the smile on his face at the end.

Let's not forget the other teams at the tournament as well both the Champion league and Premiership sides done really well winning a few games throughout the day.  If I was going to give anyone a Players award it would have to go to Richard Howard on the Champions League side who made a lot of saves to keep the team in some of the games.  But saying that everyone gave 100% effort on a very hot day in October, the next festival is agin at Cardiff Gol on Sunday 3rd November.  Well done to everyone and to the coaches Neil, David, Molly and Kristian who gave up their wednesday during the summer for football to continue, also a thank you to Pat and Keith on the committee for their roles during the summer as well.

8th september 2013
Changes to Web Site

First of all you will find a few changes to the Web site a new area has been added for information and leaflets, it also includes registration forms and the Welcome pack for you to read or reprint if you have lost yours.  I have also put in a new news TAB for this season with the last years being relegated to lower down the list but still readable.

Changes to Club Rules
Included in the Clubs Constitution

Can I also just remind you that if you are going to be away from the club for more than two weeks you need to let the coaches know, as the club is now becoming popular and we have now set a limit to the amount of players we have at the different age groups and we are reaching our limit on the over 16 team places.  If you do not tell us and you do not come we may allocate your place to someone else.
Can you also remember that you now have to pay subs for any weeks you miss and that ALL subs for training have to be paid on the night to Keith, all moneys for buses must be paid for the week before the tournament.  This was agreed at this last years AGM and carried by a unanimous vote to start in September 2013 because of the rising cost to hire the hall every week but the weekly sub will still be £3.00.
News on the Field

Lots of news to start of the this years season so far, training continued right through the summer this year and it paid off well with the club attracting seven new players to the club.  we also had fabulous weather to go with it and the players managed to keep a lot of their skills going by the training taking place. A big thank you must go out to Pat, Keith, Rachel, Kristian, David, Neil and Molly who all gave time up to take the coaching.

It also meant that the club now has enough players to start a new under 16 team to enter competitions at the Cardiff Gol festivals this year, starting on the 6th October 2013. A big thank you to David who looking after these players and teaching them well.

The over 16 teams attended a competition at Newport on the 1st September and with teams in the now Champion league and premiership all the player done very well, in fact the premier team did not loose a game while the Champion league side played three game and won one, lost one and drew one so well done to them as it was the first time at a higher level.

We have been lucky with funding again with Odyssey Legal Services Cardiff giving us some funding towards the cost of running the club
