Festival Success Again
This festival was being held by Dinas Powys at the Cardiff Gol in Leckwith, the club managed to put up two teams both in the championship league.  Team 1 started with a hard game against Cardiff City and were 2-0 down at half time, but with a change in defence the team managed a real big comeback to win 2-4.  they went on to have wins against Pont A and Race Rovers winning both game 12-0 and 7-0.
Team 2 again started with two wins a 10-0 win against Pont B and a 1-0 against Newport which was a tuff game for the team, they just lost 3-2 against Cardiff and lost 3-0 against Merthyr but all the players giving 100%.
They were also cheered on by Vin and Leena Mooneeram from the shirt sponsors Mooneeram Solicitors, who really enjoyed themselves.

Well done to everyone again and thanks to all the support we had

More success at the Special Olympics

We today played in the above event in Heath Park Cardiff, with only one team being entered for the event and a restriction on how many in a squad we were under a bit of pressure.  The coaches did not have to worry as the team played above themselves, in fact they played in a premier level division instead of usual championship level.  Everyone gave 100% for all of the games against Race and RCT tigers, with the usual suspects came forward with goals from Lewis, Bonney, Anthony, Peter and Nic. Some memorable moments was Nic's headed goal in the first game against Race Rovers which ended in 4 - 2 win.  Charlie's goalkeeping especially a double save on both post in the game against RCT tigers that kept the final score at 2 - 2, it must be the save of the season so far. The team then went on to win again against Race rovers 4 - 1 with Charlie again keeping the score down and goals from Lewis, Peter and Anthony.  We lost the final game against RCT tigers 3 - 1 but it did not matter as we had won the Premiership group by 1 point. All the players will have medals presented to them and a trophy at the next festival at Cardiff Gol on the 21st April.

Welsh Football Trust and McDonald's Club Accreditation Scheme
The Vale Reds DFC have now been awarded the above accreditation from the WFT for providing quality football experience in junior players. Well done to all the clubs coaches and helpers who have made this possible to achieve this award.
We can now have this badge below on our kit

Special Olympics Football

The Vale Reds will be entering a over 16 team into the above competition which will be held on Sunday 7th April in Cardiff, we will be holding a extra training session in the Easter break for the team.  The venue will be arranged this week and we will let the players know.  Good luck

Sunday 17th March 2013

A mixed bag of luck at this tournament at Newport, again two teams were put out with both sides showing how to play 5 a side with a wins of 8-0 against Pont A. While the B side also started well with a 9-0 win against Pont B both teams showed that training was helping them to manage games against their opposition. The B team then pulled out an excellent game to earn a 6-6 draw against a strong Newport teams while the A side went down 5-3 in their match against Newport who fielded a mixed team of Premier and Championship players.  The A side won their last game against Merthyr 5-1 to give the Vale Reds another good weekend at a tournament. well done to everyone who attended

The over 16's Championship side obtain silver ware for the club

Spring came early for the Vale Reds Disability football club when they played at a Pan Disability football festival at Skewen, Neath on the 3rd March.  The club was invited to play by Bridgend Herons of the West Wales league in a tournament containing 10 teams.

The Vale reds got off to a good start in the Over 16 Championship with a 5 - 0 win over SwanseaCity Bravehearts and this continued for the next 3 matches, with a 2 -1 win over Swansea City VIP’s including a goal straight from a corner, 6 - 0 win against Cleddau Warriors with a hat trick from captain Nic Latham and a 3 - 0 win over Neath Port Talbot Dragons with a goals from Lewis Overton.

The Vale reds then met RCT Tigers from the South East Pan Disability league that they usually play in, both teams know each other well and the game was very tight until Anthony Bracther went through to score in the first half.  Again the second half was very tight with both teams having good changes but again Anthony scored his second for the match to give the Reds a 2 - 0 lead, a late goal from the RCT Tigers a minute from full time was not enough and the Vale Reds won the game 2- 1.

All the players gave 100% and the coaches would like to thank the players for the all their hard work in training which really did pay off at the festival.

Sunday 17th February 2013

The club was glad that the weather held off for the first tournament of the year, everyone was ready to go and it showed by the amount of players that turned out for the games.  We managed to put out two teams in the Championship and both teams managed to win two out of the three games, with only just missing out winning the third.  Everyone seemed to enjoy themselves and everything that they had been practicing in training went well in the games.
